The blur pass depends on a real subject edge. Small faces, very close objects, and low-contrast scenes can produce a soft edge or uneven blur.

Background Blur keeps the subject sharp: the server segments the subject, blurs only the backdrop, then composites them. The Blur tool softens the entire frame with no subject mask.
No. After one cutout preparation request, Light/Medium/Strong/Heavy presets and the slider (0.1–50) update a browser preview only. Apply Background Blur sends a single /blur-background request for the full-resolution PNG.
Server-accepted blur_strength is 0.1–50. UI presets map to Light 5, Medium 15 (default in the UI), Strong 25, and Heavy 40 — you can also drag anywhere in the range.
A PNG named with a _bgblur.png suffix. Subject-aware results are always PNG so soft edges and composition stay intact.
When the subject barely contrasts with the scene, or the silhouette is tiny/complex. Preview the cutout carefully; a weak mask produces uneven blur around the subject.
